Sports Camp

Sports Camp is held every year for 7th-12th graders at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. We are thankful for Mounds View HS and the use of their wrestling room! I was especially grateful for the chance to work with my cousin's son, Asher(pictured with me), who will be a sophomore in high school. This year at Camp, a handful of athletes had the opportunity to add wrestling to their sport for the week. We had two morning workouts together where we honed in on individual skill work. always a joy to connect with other coaches and staff from across the Northland Region. Praise God for Jared Evans, Izzy Balsiger, and Garrison Stockwell, who poured their wrestling skills into the campers this year!

One of my personal highlights from camp was witnessing hundreds of teenagers flooding the stage of the Bethel auditorium when they had the opportunity to receive Christ for the first time or to ask for prayer. Our speaker, Nobles Darby, is the chaplain for the Cleveland Browns. Although I would rather see him working with the Green Bay Packers :) I was so grateful for his communication style and the way his energy lit up the entire auditorium. He had a way of connecting with these young athletes that was powerful and seemed to hit them right where they needed it. Many came to the stage asking for prayer for sin struggles, addictions, suicidal thoughts, pornography, spiritual warfare, and more. I had the privilege of praying over some of those individuals as well as others who had just surrendered their lives to Christ! What a powerful moment, and one they will never forget! Lord, please work in the hearts of these new Believers. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit and teach them to obey you! Amen.
